I was born 10-6-38 and I am so glad that this wonderful man was a man of God. I am so glad I found this website and had the privelege of reading this tribute. I would love to volunteer for his foundation!

Paul is one of the most influential people I have ever known. His legacy will live on forever through the organizations he built and those of us he deeply touched. Most importantly, he has eternal life with our Lord. God bless Paul, his family and his lifelong work.

I met Paul Weyrich while working at Voice of America. I went up to him, shook his hand and introduced myself as a Liberty graduate. He was instantly happy to meet me and I found he had a great sense of humor. Later, I met his son, Andrew at George Mason University while teaching a 3D modeling and animation class. Like his father, Andrew has that same quick wit and sense of humor. My prayers are with Andrew and his family

Paul Weyrich was a visionary and a builder. The Free Congress Foundation, Coalitions for America, The Heritage Foundation, the Council for National Policy, conservative TV networks: He had a founding hand and heart in them all.
His work with Senator Gordon Allott(sic) launched him in a thousand directions, and he never looked back.
A native of Racine, Wisconsin, Paul's profound faith and conservatism were the foundations of a remarkable life. He was truly one of the helmsman for the contemporary conservative movement
For Paul, Christ was at the center; his wife Joyce and his family were next; his friends were central.
His was a good life, and his vision and commitment to immutable first principles will be remembered and cherished.
During my seven years in the Bush White House, I saw Paul weekly. Whether he agreed or disagreed, he embodied grace and a winsome charm. I miss my friend already, but I know he is up where the angels are singing in this holy season of the year.

WASHINGTON, DC— U.S. Congressman Mike Pence, Chairman of the House Republican Conference, issued the following statement today on the passing Paul M. Weyrich:
“I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my friend and mentor, Paul M. Weyrich.
“Paul M. Weyrich was a giant in American politics, an inspiring leader and a friend to generations of conservatives. As the chairman and chief operating officer of the Free Congress Foundation and first president of The Heritage Foundation, Paul M. Weyrich was a founding father of the modern conservative movement. His influence reached from the corridors of power in our nation’s Capital to the townhalls and churches of heartland America and he will be deeply missed.
“I also grieve the passing of Paul M. Weyrich with a sense of personal loss. I have benefited immeasurably from his counsel, friendship and Christian example. Like so many who admired him across this nation, I am certain that heaven is richer but my life is poorer because of the passing of Paul M. Weyrich. May God rest his soul and bring comfort to his family and friends during this time of loss.”
-Congressman Mike Pence
“He was a steadfast confidant and a devout man of faith.”
WASHINGTON – Congressman Roy Blunt (Mo.) issued the following statement this morning after learning of the untimely passing of Paul Weyrich:
"No matter the challenges Paul was facing in his personal life, he was always acutely aware of the challenges facing our nation and devoted his entire life to strengthening our country. His ability to persuade without berating, and teach without demeaning are lessons that would serve many on both sides of the aisle well.
"He wasn't just an outstanding leader for conservatives; he was a steadfast confidant and a devout man of faith. I will miss his infectious personality and our weekly meetings. My prayers are with his wife Joyce, their five children and many grandchildren during this difficult time.
"It isn't often that when a man of Paul's stature passes we can say his death was a loss of more than a leader - in Paul we also lose a friend."
NOTE: Blunt attended the weekly Free Congress luncheon, hosted by Weyrich, more than 350 times as the representative for House Republican Leaders.

Families have lost ‘one of their staunchest and most effective advocates’
Colorado Springs, Colo. (December 18, 2008) -- Focus on the Family founder and chairman James C. Dobson, Ph.D., issued the following statement today on the passing of Paul Weyrich:
"American families have lost one of their staunchest and most effective advocates. Paul Weyrich fought tirelessly for three decades to protect the preborn, preserve traditional marriage and ensure that people of faith had a voice in shaping the public-policy that affected their lives. Had there been no Paul Weyrich, there would be no conservative movement as we know it. I first met him at the Council for National Policy in 1981, and was greatly influenced by his understanding of government and the culture.
"It was my privilege to call Paul Weyrich a friend, confidante and ally. Shirley and I offer our deepest condolences and heartfelt prayers to his wife, Joyce, and their family in this time of loss."
- James C. Dobson, Ph.D.
As a young conservative in the early 80’s I came to Washington with a great passion for issues and the conservative philosophy. It was leaders like Paul Weyrich that energized our movement and got us to where we are today. Mr. Weyrich was a true patriot who put issues of great importance over any political interests. He taught us to keep fighting no matter what the political ramifications. He was a driver of the Reagan Revolution and many of the crucial conservative policies that won the cold war while bringing about economic prosperity. He was a soldier for life, never wavering in defense of the unborn. If there is one lesson he leaves behind for me – it is to never give up the fight. Godspeed Mr. Weyrich.
